Word Repair launches Word 2002 or Word XP in a safe mode and starts the hidden support tool to troubleshoot and/or customize Word. During Word startup, several components are loaded, including: Word's Data registry key, The Normal.dot global template, Addins and templates, COM addins and the Word's Options registry key. If any of these items are damaged or incompatible, Word may fail to start or function properly. You can temporarily bypass these and other items by starting Word in a safe mode that prevents add-ins and global templates (including the Normal template) from being loaded automatically.
